Waler Fabrication for Coastal Retaining Wall

Supporting the stability of a coastal retaining wall, this recent waler project showcases the importance of detailed engineering in challenging environments.

What's a waler? It's a horizontal beam that reinforce retaining walls by evenly distributing the load, protecting them from soil movement and erosion over time.

For this project, collaboration was key. Working with Nick Pemberton Construction Ltd, we specified the trumpet tube sealing and fastening detail to ensure the walers would perform under tough conditions.

Additionally, our team partnered with engineers to upgrade the galvanising grade to HDG900, a crucial step that eliminated the need for costly and complex painting, while enhancing durability.

Projects like this highlight how thoughtful engineering and close teamwork can provide long-term solutions to critical infrastructure challenges. Need some walers? Reach out to our team at Alted Engineering today.
